Getting started: Many of my clients ask... Where do I even begin? Simple... anywhere that's easy for you. Choose something from the list below and JUST DO IT !
Physically - go for a walk, put your business cards under the windscreen of people cars, post a flier on a bulletin board or two, talk to the local coffee shop and place business cards near the counter. Choose places where your CUSTOMER would hang out and BE there to and talk to people! Go to a different cafe - stop doing the same thing every day at the same place. Stop burying yourself in a newspaper or book when you're out at lunch - look up and look at people and smile, say hello - be a person! People do business with PEOPLE.
Mentally - create a flyer, poster or ad. Place an ad in the local paper. If you cant write an add - get a copywriter to help you - the team from Consider it Done can help you there. Create some extra links to other relevant websites. Write an email newsletter and send it to the people you know. It doesnt matter if your database has 10 people on it, just start sending information that people find useful. If you dont know what to write - ask people what would be useful, or come talk to me - I'll coach you!
Emotionally - get ready for new customers/clients. Start thinking positively that new business is coming your way. Why, sounds a bit airy fairy... consider, the person you must become to have a bigger more profitable business must be someone that can hold their own when cashflow is terrible, when things dont work out and also when business isn't going so well. You MUST GROW the emotional muscles to handle the business you really want. Get out of your rut of similar thinkers and spend time with people who have the emotional ability you desire and watch them in crisis and overwhelm. You can get the results you want - just like they do.
